Dead Body Found In Front Seat Of Burning Pick-Up Truck In Maryland: Sheriff

The investigation into a St. Mary's County car fire led to a grisly discovery this week, according to the sheriff's office.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office has not identified the victim.

Earlier this week, deputies and fire crews were called to a reported vehicle fire in Drayden, where a 2011 Ford Ranger was ablaze and a dead body was found in the front seat.

The truck fire is now being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshal and St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office's Criminal Investigations Division.

Officials say that the name of the victim is being withheld until the body can be identified.

The cause and origin of the fire remain unclear.
